With less than 100 days remaining in his presidency, Michael Moore is urging President Joe Biden to use his last days in office to enact extreme policies. In a message to the president, the outspoken filmmaker suggested Biden has “full immunity” and should use his remaining time to push forward a list of progressive actions.
Moore encouraged Biden to take advantage of his last months without the need to campaign or answer to voters, claiming the president has been granted “super powers” by a recent Supreme Court ruling. He emphasized that Biden has the opportunity to accomplish major goals before his term ends.
Among Moore’s proposals were bold actions like declaring the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) as the 28th Amendment and canceling student and medical debt. He also urged Biden to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center and return the land to Cuba, suggesting that the U.S. no longer has a need for the base.
Moore also called on Biden to use his foreign policy expertise to negotiate an end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and to stop supporting Israel’s conflict with Hamas. He encouraged the president to empty the Federal Death Row, commute sentences to life without parole, and pardon non-violent drug offenders.
Additionally, Moore urged Biden to grant clemency to Edward Snowden, arguing that the whistleblower “deserves a medal” instead of imprisonment. His list of suggestions ended with a lighthearted call to ban spam text messaging, with Moore humorously suggesting that such a move would earn Biden a spot on Mount Rushmore.
Moore’s message emphasizes the left’s desire for Biden to take decisive, progressive action in his remaining time as president, making bold moves that could cement his legacy.
