Kash Patel Orders FBI Review Of Whistleblower Allegations Against James Comey

Newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel has ordered an internal review into allegations that former FBI Director James Comey directed a covert surveillance effort against Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. A whistleblower has disclosed information suggesting Comey oversaw an off-the-record operation involving undercover FBI agents attempting to infiltrate Trump’s team.

The whistleblower’s testimony, provided to the House Judiciary Committee, claims Comey authorized two female operatives to embed themselves within the campaign under the guise of forming professional and personal relationships with campaign staff. This operation reportedly took place in 2015 and was not officially documented within the FBI’s formal investigative process.

Then-Deputy Director Dave Bowdich and senior FBI official Paul Abbate were reportedly involved in overseeing aspects of the operation. The mission allegedly came to an abrupt halt when media outlets became aware of one of the operatives and were close to making her identity public.

During his confirmation hearing, Patel emphasized that his focus would be on restoring integrity to the FBI. He had stated that he did not intend to engage in politically driven investigations, but the severity of the whistleblower’s claims has led to an internal review.

The investigation remains distinct from prior reviews of the FBI’s handling of Trump-related probes, including Crossfire Hurricane. Neither the FBI nor Comey has issued statements addressing the current investigation.

Patel’s leadership marks a significant shift at the FBI, prioritizing internal accountability and ensuring past misconduct is addressed.
