Victoria Plane Crash Damages Cars, Injures 4 On Busy Highway

A small plane crashed onto a highway in Victoria, Texas, on Wednesday afternoon, striking three vehicles and injuring four people. The dramatic crash unfolded around 3 p.m. near a busy highway overpass, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The twin-engine Piper PA-31 was carrying only the pilot when it lost control and came down on the road. The crash caused significant damage, splitting the plane in two and leaving debris scattered across the area. Emergency crews worked quickly to assist the injured and secure the site.

Victoria Police Deputy Chief Eline Moya said three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment locally. Another person was transferred to a regional medical center for further care. The pilot was alert but trapped in the wreckage when responders arrived.

Witness Tony Poynor recounted seeing the plane’s shadow and hearing its engine moments before it crashed. “It passed over my truck and started wobbling before going down,” he said. Poynor approached the wreckage but was unable to free the pilot.

The FAA confirmed it will investigate the crash. No information has been released about the pilot or the circumstances leading to the incident.

The crash, which occurred during busy traffic hours, could have resulted in a far worse outcome, police said. Authorities praised the swift response of emergency crews and the community’s cooperation in clearing the area.
