President Donald Trump has taken the lead in two crucial battleground states — Michigan and Wisconsin — according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. Released on Wednesday, the poll shows Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris in both states, with Michigan voters showing a three-point shift in Trump’s favor since September.
In Michigan, Trump now holds 50% support to Harris’ 47%, while in Wisconsin, Trump leads 48% to 46%. Pennsylvania remains a closely contested state, with Harris slightly ahead at 49% to Trump’s 46%. These battleground states are vital to either candidate’s path to victory in the 2024 election.

The poll also asked voters to evaluate who they believed would perform better on key issues. Trump outscored Harris in nearly all categories except abortion. Voters trusted Trump more on the economy, immigration and national security, with a 54% to 45% advantage over Harris in Michigan on economic issues, and a similar margin in Wisconsin.
Despite high expectations for a post-debate boost, Harris did not experience any noticeable improvement in her standing. Meanwhile, Trump’s momentum has been further boosted by declining mail-in voting numbers among Democrats in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, signaling decreasing enthusiasm for Harris in these key states.

As Election Day approaches, Trump’s growing strength in these battleground states could play a decisive role, making it critical for Harris to regain support in these regions if she hopes to win the presidency.
