Schiff’s Last-Ditch Effort To Block Kash Patel Falls Apart

Democrats, already weakened by recent funding losses, threw their weight behind stopping Kash Patel’s confirmation as FBI director, but their last-minute attempts failed. The Senate voted 51-47 to confirm Patel, securing another key win for President Donald Trump.

In a final act of resistance, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and other Democrats staged a protest outside FBI headquarters, warning that Patel would use the bureau for political retaliation. Schiff, who was censured for spreading false claims about Trump, accused Patel of lacking integrity. His remarks stood in contrast to his own record, which led to his removal from the House Intelligence Committee.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) denounced Patel’s calls to reform the FBI, citing his previous statements about overhauling the agency. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) took his criticism further, declaring that Patel would bring disaster to the bureau. Whitehouse ominously warned that Republicans who voted for Patel would “rue that day.”

Patel made it clear in his first statement as director that the FBI’s credibility must be rebuilt. He pledged to support law enforcement while ensuring the agency was no longer used as a political weapon. “The politicalization of our justice system has eroded public trust — but that ends today,” Patel stated.

Schiff’s vocal opposition to Patel did not go unnoticed. The new FBI director has called Schiff “the worst criminal in Congress in the last 250 years,” and Schiff’s presence outside FBI headquarters underscored his desperation to prevent Patel from leading the bureau.

Attorney General Pam Bondi congratulated Patel on his confirmation, highlighting his dedication to restoring the FBI’s reputation. She stated that she looks forward to working with him to strengthen national security.
