A group of high school students at a New York high school staged a walk-out protest on Monday to oppose the school district’s attempt to force students to share restrooms with the opposite gender if they claim their doctor got their gender wrong at birth. Students were not about to let the liberal gender ideology intrude upon their privacy and safety in restrooms at school.
According to a report from Breitbart News, the Wappingers Central School District — which is in charge of John Jay High School and other campuses — is about to allow students to choose which restroom they want to use instead of keeping boys and girls in separate restrooms, enforced by their biological gender, the way society has always organized restrooms as a form of prudence, not oppression.

One student, Shauna Neilan, said, “A bunch of people from our school, John Jay, feel uncomfortable. We want to change that and give them their own spaces to make us more comfortable and them more comfortable.”
A group of mostly adults who do not have to use those restrooms organized an odd counter-protest in response. While the original protest was a natural response of the students to the violation of their private spaces in their everyday lives, the far-left group Defense of Democracy manufactured the counter-protest.
The group says it exists to “educate the public about the value of inclusivity and the importance of emotional and physical safety for all individuals within the American public-school and library systems.”
Students had recently circulated a petition claiming that several incidents in school bathrooms with liberal gender ideologues had disturbed other students. Bonk said, “We are going to continue to provide a safe environment for all of our students. And all means all, each and every one of them.”
New York state currently has statutes in place that require public school districts to provide students with access to whichever restroom they choose. Bonk said the district’s new policy complies with the law. He added, “We want to support all of their rights, but we’re also going to be following the proper protocol that we are responsible for following.”
This follows months of student protests against liberal gender ideology in schools, including a viral video of a California high school student speaking out about the issue at a local school board meeting.
