Michigan’s Benson Demands Compliance, Threatens Local Election Officials

Jocelyn Benson, Michigan’s leftist Secretary of State, has issued a threat to local election officials, demanding that they certify election results or face severe consequences. In a video produced in collaboration with the far-left outlet The Recount, Benson didn’t mince words as she laid out her expectations for those handling the certification process.

“If someone were to violate the law and not certify the election at the local level, we will come for you,” Benson declared, signaling her intent to enforce compliance in a state that plays a pivotal role in national elections. Michigan, a key swing state, has seen its share of controversy in recent years, and Benson’s aggressive stance is likely to add fuel to the fire.

Meanwhile, state Sen. Jim Runestad (R) offered a more tempered perspective, emphasizing that Michigan law provides a clear process for handling situations where local boards of canvassers do not certify results. Rather than issuing threats, Runestad explained that election records would be reviewed by the state board of canvassers, which would then allow local officials another opportunity to certify the results after any necessary corrections.

Benson also took aim at what she described as “misinformation” surrounding the election process, encouraging citizens to report such instances to a state-controlled email address. Her use of the term “misinformation” has sparked concerns among conservatives who view it as a potential tool for suppressing dissent and controlling public discourse.

As Michigan gears up for future elections, Benson’s confrontational approach and left-leaning policies may further deepen the divide in this politically charged swing state. With tensions already running high, her demands and threats could have significant implications for the integrity of the election process.
