A new report has revealed that former President Barack Obama’s attorney general secretly tried to push the Department of Defense (DOD) to remove a Chinese drone company from a list of Chinese companies that are part of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) military.
According to the report from Reuters, former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and two other former U.S. officials were reportedly enlisted by SZ DJI Technology Co. to push for the Biden administration to remove them from the list. The other two officials have been identified as former Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Gertzman and former Associate White House Counsel Roberto Gonzalez.

All three former Obama administration officials are now working together at the Paul, Weiss law firm, and reportedly signed the letter to a Pentagon official last year — putting a “confidential treatment requested” label on the letter.
According to a DOD press release from 2021, the Pentagon has confirmed that the CCP-connected company represents a potential threat to U.S. national security.
Reuters went on to explain that it had obtained a copy of the letter, noting that it was a prime example of why American lawmakers have been strongly advocating for the closing of loopholes in U.S. law that allow lawyers and lobbyists to avoid disclosing the fact that they work for foreign companies that potentially face U.S. sanctions.
The loophole, which exists in the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), does not require anyone involved in “commercial activities and legal representation” to disclose this information to the government.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking member Sen. Jim Risch (R-ID) blasted Lynch for helping a Chinese military-connected company.
“It is appalling that former senior U.S. officials use their connections to serve the interests of U.S. adversaries,” Risch said.
Lynch reportedly pushed the Biden administration to remove the Chinese company from the list immediately, supposedly because the drones had already been in “wide use” in the United States. She also demanded the DOD schedule a meeting with her to address the issue.
This is far from the first scandal that Lynch has been involved in. During the 2016 presidential election, the then-attorney general secretly met with former President Bill Clinton on a Phoenix tarmac in the lead-up to the presidential election at the same time that the Trump-Russia Collusion hoax was being formulated and Lynch was also investigating then-Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
