Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, issued a stark warning about the future of the U.S. should Vice President Kamala Harris win the upcoming election. Musk, who has been increasingly vocal about his concerns, likened the potential outcome to the dystopian one-party rule in California, a state he once called home.
Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday morning, stating, “If the machine behind the Kamala puppet wins this election, the whole country will be far worse than California is today.” His comments highlight his growing concerns that the policies seen in California under Democratic leadership could be expanded nationwide, with disastrous results. Musk pointed out that while businesses can leave California to escape overregulation, there would be no such refuge if these policies go national.
Musk explained his personal frustrations with California, where he once lived and operated his companies. “I loved living in California, but the problem is you cannot get things done,” he said in a video from 2022. He criticized the state’s “overbearing regulatory agencies” and “litigation culture,” noting that the state’s legal system seems designed to benefit class-action lawyers who have influence over Democratic politicians.
In his post, Musk emphasized the control unions and the plaintiff bar have over the Democratic Party, especially in California. “The people who got elected got funded by Democrats and lawyers,” he explained, suggesting that laws are often written to favor those who fund campaigns, creating what he called a “nightmarish circle.”
Musk’s concerns go beyond California, with warnings that Harris and her allies could bring one-party rule to the entire nation by packing the Supreme Court, importing more illegal immigrants, and granting statehood to Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. He recently moved the headquarters of SpaceX and Tesla to Texas, citing frustrations with California’s policies, including its handling of transgender issues in schools.
