Texas continues to have red-state allies in fighting its cataclysmic border problem created by President Biden. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), a possible vice presidential running mate for Donald Trump in 2024, has pledged National Guard troops and state police officers to the effort at America’s southern border.

DeSantis pointed out that among the massive flow of illegals are foreign nationals from countries hostile to the United States. This includes China and numerous North African and Middle Eastern terror-harboring states.
“I think the chances are that there’s some bad intentions there for some of these people,” DeSantis remarked at a press conference.
Another topic addressed by the conservative governor was the huge role Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have in exacerbating the mass immigration problem. Given federal funds, these groups assist illegals in evading the Border Patrol and provide them with pre-paid Visa cards that can contain thousands of dollars.
“These NGOs make a fortune because of illegal immigration. They bring people in, the federal government gives them money. What we did in Florida is we took action regarding their ability to interact with the state,” DeSantis said.
Gov. DeSantis has already sent hundreds of troops to Texas over the past three years. “This is part of a years-long effort for us to help do what the federal government has refused to do, which is to actually defend this country’s borders,” remarked the Governor.
Fourteen states have deployed troops and sent resources to Texas to help secure the border. With the exception of Virginia, all were carried by Donald Trump in 2020. They are Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Note that Virginia has a GOP governor in Glenn Youngkin.
In a show of solidarity, DeSantis and most of these Governors held a press conference at the flashpoint Texas border city of Eagle Park back on February 4.
The current border crisis has hemorrhaged since Biden’s election in 2020, when he rolled back Trump’s restrictive policies and ceased construction of the border wall. The impeached Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has executed his job duties more as a welcoming committee than a guard. He has even stated there are not enough migrants in the United States.
