Florida Officials Issue Stark Warning Ahead of Protests
Brevard County law enforcement officials are taking a hard-line stance against potential violence during the upcoming “No Kings” protests scheduled for June 12, 2025. Sheriff Wayne Ivey, flanked by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier at a recent press conference, delivered an unambiguous message to anyone planning to engage in violent behavior during the demonstrations.
The nationwide protests, organized to coincide with President Trump’s 79th birthday, have drawn increased security concerns from officials who cite previous anti-immigration demonstrations that turned violent as a cause for heightened vigilance.
Sheriff Ivey’s warning left no room for interpretation regarding how his deputies would respond to violent protesters. “Throw a brick, firebomb or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at, Because we will kill you graveyard dead. We’re not going to play,” Ivey stated firmly. Officials emphasized that while peaceful protests are protected under the Constitution, any actions that cross into rioting, property damage, or threats to law enforcement will be met with swift consequences.
People like this have no business in law enforcement. This should NOT BE THE NORM!

Nationwide Protests Planned with Varying Concerns
The “No Kings” protests were organized by the 50501 Movement in response to President Trump’s administration policies, particularly focusing on immigration rights and what organizers described as opposition to perceived power grabs. According to planning documents, demonstrations are scheduled in approximately 2,000 locations across the country, with Philadelphia expected to host the largest gathering. A march is planned from LOVE Park to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, while other major cities are preparing for a significant turnout despite varying weather conditions that may impact participation.
“If you’re a family out there, you’re driving and all of a sudden you get surrounded by one of these angry demonstrations that’s turned violent, you don’t need to sit there and wait while people smash your window and damage your vehicle and put your family in jeopardy. Just drive, get yourself out of harm’s way.”, said Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.
Protest atmospheres are expected to vary significantly by location. Previous demonstrations have ranged from festive gatherings to tense confrontations with counter-protesters. In Minnesota, planned protests were canceled due to safety concerns following shootings targeting lawmakers. Los Angeles, which experienced significant unrest in previous demonstrations, has called in National Guard and Marine units as a precautionary measure. The California protests have featured a 20-foot balloon depicting President Trump in a diaper.
Florida’s Stance on Law and Order
Attorney General Uthmeier clarified Florida’s stance during the joint press conference with Sheriff Ivey, establishing a clear distinction between Florida’s approach to managing protests and that of other states. “Florida will never be California,” Uthmeier declared. “Rioting is illegal in our state and our law enforcement are on full alert this weekend. If anyone participates in violent rioting, threatens or injures law enforcement, damages businesses or property, or obstructs traffic, we will ensure you will see the back of a jail cell and prosecute you to the fullest.”
Brevard County officials confirmed they expect at least two protest events in their jurisdiction and are ready to enforce laws against rioting and violence. Sheriff Ivey pointed out ongoing instances of violence at anti-immigration protests elsewhere in the country as a reason for the strong stance. Florida authorities emphasized that their warnings are specifically aimed at those planning violent activities, not peaceful demonstrators exercising their constitutional rights. Officials urged residents to remain vigilant and prepared for disruptions to normal activities during the protest period.
