NBC Reporter Shocked By Number Of Illegal Border Crossings

NBC News correspondent Guad Venegas was stunned while reporting at the border crossing in Eagle Pass, Texas, on Thursday when he saw the massive number of illegal aliens crossing into the U.S. firsthand.

In the past week, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have apprehended a record number of illegal aliens — including a staggering report of more than 12,000 people illegally crossing the southern border in one day. Meanwhile, the Biden administration refuses to address the border crisis despite facing backlash over the massive influx of illegal aliens, including criticism from members of his own party.

While reporting on the crisis in a segment that aired on MSNBC, Venegas stood alongside the Eagle Pass border crossing and showed viewers a massive crowd of illegal aliens waiting to be processed by Border Patrol agents while other illegals continued to flood across the border.

“These crowds here in Eagle Pass have never been this large during my reporting. This is the most people I’ve ever seen in Eagle Pass, and other reporters, colleagues working other parts of the border in Arizona, [and] in Jacumba near San Diego tell me the same thing,” the NBC News correspondent said.

“We have these conversations and the conversation is always, ‘Wow, I’ve never seen this number of migrants arriving,’ and we know from the reports coming from the government with these numbers,” he added. “We have the number of apprehensions, the numbers of encounters, everything spiking, so we don’t know what this will mean moving forward, we just know that the numbers are much larger as the resources are spread thin.”

Venegas went on to explain that he had spoken with Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) about the issue, who told him that the federal government’s illegal alien processing centers and hospitals in the Eagle Pass area are all overwhelmed by the shocking number of illegals.

“When the U.S. congressman visited this area, Tony Gonzales said that the hospitals are also overwhelmed,” he explained. “So if someone calls 911 and needs to go to the hospital, that hospital might be overwhelmed because they’re helping a lot of these migrants, so you have that humanitarian crisis happening as well.”

The historic increase in illegal border crossings has become such a crisis that even Democrat leaders have urged the Biden administration to take action to stem the flow of illegal aliens. Speaking with CNN’s Jake Tapper last weekend, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) demanded that President Joe Biden “stop this dangerous immigration,” arguing that the border “must be shut down.”
