Jamaal Bowman Pleads Guilty For Pulling Fire Alarm

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) recently turned himself into authorities for pulling the fire alarm in the Capitol building during a vote on a stopgap bill heavily supported by House Republicans.

The New York congressman previously agreed to plead guilty in the matter after reaching an agreement with Washington, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb. The agreement will result in Bowman’s “false fire alarm” charge being dropped.

Recently, Fox News reported that Bowman surrendered to law enforcement and will soon be arraigned over his actions in the Capitol.

Bowman told reporters that he wasn’t “trying to disrupt any official government proceeding,” as reported by the Post Millennial.

Schwalb agreed to drop the charges against Bowman after three months so long as the New York congressman issued a formal apology and paid a $1,000 fine. If Bowman fails to do so, he could face six months behind bars, according to D.C. Superior Court Judge Dorsey Jones.

“I’m thankful for the quick resolution from the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office on this issue and grateful that the United States Capitol Police General Counsel’s office agreed I did not obstruct nor intend to obstruct any House vote or proceedings,” Bowman told Fox News.

“I am responsible for activating a fire alarm,” Bowman added. “I will be paying the fine issued, and look forward to these charges being ultimately dropped.”

Many Republicans decried the slap on the wrist punishment Bowman is receiving, arguing that he’s given special treatment by prosecutors because he’s a Democrat.

Notably, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) condemned the agreement Bowman reached with Schwalb and called for the New York congressman to be prosecuted “using the same law they sued to prosecute J6 defendants for interfering with an official proceeding.”

“Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled the fire alarm in the Cannon building this afternoon and interrupted the official proceedings of the House as Republicans worked to keep the government open,” Greene said.

Today’s weaponized Department of Justice (DOJ) shows that as a Democrat, one can get away with criminal acts, but as a Republican, one can potentially face the death penalty.

As of today, the DOJ is busy going after former President Donald Trump on bogus charges such as the former president’s attempts to “overturn” the 2020 presidential election when, of course, there were no such attempts made by the former president.
