President Joe Biden, 81, has not been exempt from media criticism surrounding his clearly declining mental capacity. This week, Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, refused to comment on whether or not Biden will debate former President Donald Trump, 77, before the upcoming general election.
This week when asked if the president will be debating his opponent, Harris replied with by saying she had not spoken to the president regarding the issue, but the former president was quick to take to his Truth Social platform, saying:
“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump has not kept quiet his concerns about Biden’s mental health, referencing many instances on social media of Biden getting lost during his speeches, from losing the line of conversation to just speaking nonsensical. Back in February, Trump maintained his stance and called on the president again for a response to a potential debate, with Biden’s response being:
“Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me, too. He’s got nothing else to do.”
During Biden’s State of the Union address this week, the president made the comment that Trump is just “thirsty for attention” in his insistence on a debate, while his vice president said in an interview with MSNBC that the decision will be released soon:
President Biden showed no restraint in attacking the former president during his address, slamming Trump for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, his response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the crisis at the southern border, gun control and Trump’s relations with Russian president Vladmir Putin.
These remarks come after Trump once again demanded a debate with the president, and Harris immediately rushing to Biden’s defense saying that “it will just depend on his [Trump] behavior.”
