During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) argued Tuesday that the American people are not fully aware of just how bad the current “banking crisis” could become in the near future.
Speaking on a letter congressional Democrats wrote to push the Federal Reserve to halt interest rate hikes, Boyle, who MSNBC reports co-led the writeup, said, “I respect the independence of the Fed. They are obviously going to independently make that decision. But it doesn’t preclude me or any other member of Congress or any other citizen from speaking up and pointing out that the Fed has raised rates so steeply, so quickly that that is having a profound effect on our economy. By their own measures, they are going to cause unemployment as a result of what they’re doing, an increase in unemployment, for which they have no real response. So, I believe a pause here is appropriate. We still, as we’ve been reminded today, don’t know the full extent of the banking crisis. So, I think a pause would be a wise decision. We do not want to have a mistake of going so extreme in the rate hikes that we end up bringing about a recession that is completely unnecessary.”
Boyle has expressed his angst about the financial state of the U.S. by speaking out against Republicans as well, arguing that the alleged “promises” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has made to the “extreme MAGA allies” could cause the nation to default on its debt.

The Pennsylvania representative is notably backed by numerous far-left radical people and organizations, which according to voteboyle.com include U.S. House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who compared gerrymandering with Jim Crow, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, whose parent company openly displays that it terminated an estimated 355,000 developing babies in 2022.
He is also reportedly endorsed by the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, which per OpenSecrets gave over half a million dollars to House Democrat candidates from 2019-2020.
Boyle is himself not shy of engaging in radical rhetoric; he went on Twitter just last month to lament the “insurrection” of former President Donald Trump, adding that he is a “mortal threat” to the country.
