Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t bashful about her desire to eliminate the filibuster. During a Democratic National Committee meeting on Saturday, the former CA senator said she “cannot wait” to do just that.
To say the filibuster is important to our democratic process would be a vast understatement. If removed, the senate itself becomes irrelevant. The left would be free to pass whatever legislation they desire, making it understandable why democrats are so determined to make it a memory.
Harris went on to say that ousting the filibuster would be a positive step for “voting rights and reproductive rights.” Of course, she never explained how. Chalk it up to another empty talking point for liberal media to echo for the next 3-7 days.
Although he hasn’t held political office in over half a decade, Barack Obama has remained vocally in favor of doing away with the filibuster. We can’t forget when he took to the altar at Rep. John Lewis’s (D-GA) in July of 2020 (Obama speaks out against filibuster at funeral).
“If all this takes eliminating the filibuster, another Jim Crow relic, in order to secure the God-given rights of every American, then that’s what we should do,” said the former president. The Democrats have no shame, when they want something, they go for it.
Once again, it’s senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) standing in the way of radical, progressive policy. For months, Manchin has been outspoken in opposition to eliminating the filibuster (Manchin not on board with the voting rights bill).
Kamala Harris and the democrats might not need the two rogue senators’ votes for long. At the same weekend meeting, Harris predicted they will gain ground in the senate and maintain control of the house of representatives (VP Harris delusions from fantasy island).
At surface level that forecast sounds delusional at best. On the other hand, projections for the November election have been trending in the wrong direction for months Nov. projections show GOP losing ground).
We’ve been endlessly assured that a landslide come November is a certainty. That “red wave” is shrinking and is a legitimate cause for concern.
It’s easy to poke fun at Kamala and the rest of the Biden administration. On the contrary, it might be wise to start taking their words seriously. Look at all they’ve accomplished in less than two years. Biden was meant to be a punching bag from the start. It’s why his approval rating takes the hits while the democratic party simultaneously gains momentum.
