Former President Donald Trump told the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Leadership Forum Friday that President Joe Biden’s gun control actions are weaponizing the government against law-abiding citizens.
Trump told the nation’s largest gun rights organization that “the Biden gun control agenda is part and parcel of the left-wing crusade to utilize government power against ordinary Americans.”
As many a Second Amendment advocate has noted, the rabid gun control actions of the Biden White House do not affect criminals. They, of course, do not undergo background checks or submit to waiting periods and red flag laws.
Trump, who is currently embarked on his third campaign for the presidency, told the NRA that the lawless are allowed to “roam free, they’re all over the place. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

He expressed his discomfort with walking through Democratic-controlled cities where a trip to the corner store can lead to being shot.
The Republican told the gathering that “as president, I will end the weaponization of our government.”
Trump also delivered a message to the powerful organization about the 2024 presidential election. He recalled that the NRA threw its support behind his longshot candidacy early in the 2016 race and urged them to do the same this time around.
He declared, “We did a great job and they better endorse me again or they’re going to have some explaining to do…No, I do believe we’re in pretty good shape.”
The former president received the most raucous welcome of the day when he was introduced to the audience. That was a far cry from the reception afforded former Vice President Mike Pence, who was unceremoniously booed when he took the stage.
Trump told the NRA that New York, and in particular state Attorney General Letitia James, is waging war on both himself and the gun rights organization. He sat for a seven-hour deposition Thursday over allegations of wrongdoing by the Trump Organization.
He said “the very same raging, radical left, lunatic attorney general that is coming after me in New York state is also waging war on the NRA.”
He further vowed that on day one of his new administration he will reverse President Joe Biden’s “war on lawful gun owners.” He pledged to rip apart Biden’s executive order targeting the firearms industry and throw it out.
