Trump Suggests IRS Agents Be Sent To Border Instead Of Targeting Americans

President Donald Trump has suggested an alternative use for the Biden administration’s IRS expansion — deploying thousands of agents to the southern border to help curb illegal immigration. Speaking to a packed crowd in Las Vegas, Trump questioned why so many IRS agents were needed and argued that their resources would be better utilized in securing the nation.

Trump pointed out that the IRS expansion was aimed at squeezing more revenue from middle-class families and small businesses. Instead of letting them focus on audits and tax collection, Trump proposed relocating them to support border enforcement, where they are legally allowed to carry firearms.

His executive order, signed immediately after returning to the White House, halted IRS hiring, freezing the expansion efforts put in place by the Biden administration. The next step, according to Trump, is determining whether to eliminate these positions entirely or reassign them to border duties.

The administration has also introduced plans to shift the tax burden from citizens to foreign countries through tariffs. Trump has proposed a 25% tariff on imports from nations that do not cooperate with immigration policies, targeting countries like Mexico and Canada.

While many conservatives back the plan as a practical way to address border security, critics have expressed skepticism about whether IRS agents can effectively transition into enforcement roles. Questions have also been raised about the logistics of such a shift.

Trump has further suggested the creation of an independent agency to collect tariffs and foreign trade fees, which he argues will generate revenue while reducing tax burdens on American families.
