Trump Demands FBI Records After Sudden DEI Office Closure

President Donald Trump is calling for full transparency from the FBI following the abrupt shutdown of its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) just before his inauguration. Trump’s strong reaction to the news suggests deeper concerns about the agency’s internal operations.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He added, “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

Fox News reported that the FBI closed the ODI in December 2024 but failed to offer any details about the reasoning behind the decision. The timing of the closure has intensified suspicions, particularly among Trump supporters and critics of federal diversity programs.

During his campaign, Trump promised to eliminate what he described as “wokeness” in federal agencies. He criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs as political tools that distract from critical government responsibilities.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) recently criticized the FBI’s focus on DEI policies, warning that such programs could weaken national security. In a letter to outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray, Blackburn wrote that the bureau’s focus on DEI initiatives was endangering the American public.

Trump’s FBI nominee, Kash Patel, shares similar views on DEI efforts and is expected to steer the agency back toward traditional law enforcement priorities.

Across the country, DEI programs in universities and public institutions have faced mounting opposition, with several being scaled back or shut down in response to growing criticism.
