The Texas Republican Party is investigating reports that Democrats have been setting up voter registration tables outside Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices to register noncitizens to vote.
The allegations came to light after Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo shared a post on X, claiming that Democrats had established voter registration tents at multiple DMV locations in Weatherford and Fort Worth. The post described long lines of immigrants at these locations, with voter registration drives being held outside, allegedly without verification of citizenship status.
Brady Gray, the chairman of the Parker County Republican Party, responded quickly, saying he would look into the matter, adding that concerned residents had already contacted him.
Gray condemned what he described as a Democrat effort to circumvent election laws, saying it aligns with broader concerns about election integrity and border security. Tarrant County GOP chairman Bo French also weighed in, calling for stricter voter ID laws and urging action from state leaders to prevent illegal voting.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton reposted Bartiromo’s claim, signaling that the matter is under his office’s scrutiny. Paxton later issued a statement reinforcing his commitment to protecting Texas elections and warning that anyone involved in illegal voter registration would face legal consequences.
The investigation reflects growing concern within the GOP over the potential for widespread voter fraud, particularly in light of policies that could make it easier for noncitizens to register and vote.
