Salon Owner Speaks Out After Secret Service Enters Business Without Permission During Harris Event

Alicia Powers, the owner of a Massachusetts salon, is speaking out after Secret Service agents entered her business without permission during a fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris. The agents reportedly picked the lock to the salon’s front door and covered security cameras with duct tape, allowing the public to use the restroom for nearly two hours.

Powers, who had closed her salon as requested for security reasons, was shocked to learn that her property had been used without her knowledge or consent. She described how several individuals entered her salon over the course of an hour and a half, setting off alarms and leaving the premises unsecured after they were done.

After the incident was brought to light, the Secret Service’s Boston office contacted Powers to apologize. A representative admitted that the agents’ actions were inappropriate and not in line with standard procedures. Powers recounted the conversation, stating, “He said to me everything that was done was done very wrong.”

Brian Smith, the landlord of the building, confirmed that no one had granted the Secret Service permission to enter the property. The agency has since expressed regret for the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to working cooperatively with local businesses during high-profile events.
