Resistance Against ‘Pride’ Assemblies Grow Among CA Parents

Parents in North Hollywood, California, are voicing their concerns and calling on others to unite in keeping their children home from school on June 2. Their objection stems from a planned assembly at Saticoy Elementary School to observe LGBTQ+ Pride month.

A group of parents, identifying themselves as “Saticoy Elementary Parents,” has set up an Instagram account to organize opposition to the school presentation, stating the content being taught is not appropriate for their children. Through an Instagram post, the parents rallied support for their cause, urging participation in a protest on June 2 while keeping their children at home.

They expressed their frustration with the Los Angeles Unified School District’s (LAUSD) decision to hold a K-5 school assembly that aims to educate students about the LGBTQ+ community. According to the parents, a video will be shown during the conference that portrays various family structures, including those with same-sex parents.

The group claims the planned rally has sparked outrage among parents who have reached out to LAUSD officials to voice their concerns. They also revealed that protesting parents plan to keep their children home from school on the designated day.

In addition to the video, teachers will read a book called “The Great Big Book of Families” by Mary Hoffman, which promotes the lives of non-nuclear family units. On Instagram, parents and guardians assert they are being forced to address topics they believe are not suitable for their children.

Parents should have the right to introduce such subjects at their own discretion, as they deem any discussion related to LGBTQ+ matters to be explicit and burdensome for young children. In response, the LAUSD released a statement affirming its commitment to fostering a “safe and inclusive learning environment.”

The district emphasized the importance of treating everyone with respect, kindness, and compassion while empowering students to achieve their full potential irrespective of personal or religious beliefs.

The planned assembly controversy exposes the heated war going on between parents advocating for their right to determine their children’s education and left-wing school districts’ attempts to brainwash them. As the scheduled date approaches, tensions continue to rise — leaving educators and parents at odds.
