Republican Introduces Bill Banning Most Flags From Federal Property

The Biden administration angered many Americans with its prominent display of LGBT “pride” outside of the White House over the weekend.

Many critics insisted that hanging the rainbow banner in a central position violated U.S. Flag Code, which mandates that the U.S. flag must be flown higher than all others.

As Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton argued: “To advance revolutionary transgender agenda targeting children, Biden violates the basic tenet of US Flag Code and disrespects every American service member buried under its colors.”

For his part, U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) hopes to prevent any future displays that minimize the American flag. He recently introduced a bill that would ban other flags — with certain exceptions, including that of a visiting diplomat’s home country — from federal property.

Marshall defended the proposal in a statement this week, lamenting the “sad state of affairs” that has led to the Biden administration’s promotion of a “radical social agenda” over the principles reflected by the Stars and Stripes.

“The American flag stands for liberty and justice for ALL and should never be undermined by anyone, especially the President of the United States,” he wrote.

The Kansas Republican asserted that it “must reign supreme as a symbol of our nation’s freedom that thousands of our servicemembers, and veterans have fought and died to protect.”

His solution, which is called the One Flag For All Act, “ensures that the American Flag never gets sidelined for culture wars and political points and remains the sole symbol of our nation’s freedom and sacrifices.”

Marshall was among the many critics who asserted that the White House display violated U.S. Flag Code, asserting: “This nonsense has to end!!!”

Other Republican lawmakers shared similar views, including U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, who pointed out that many Americans “have died for that flag” and the Biden administration’s display was an insult to their memory.

“And they put that flag up to the side, flanking a pride flag on the front of the United States president’s house,” he wrote. “It’s despicable.”

During the White House event on Saturday during which the rainbow flag was on full display, President Joe Biden seized the opportunity to celebrate LGBT individuals as “some of the bravest and most inspiring” people in the world.
