MSM Contributor: China COVID Surge Comes From Too Much Freedom

Dr. Peter Hotez, no stranger to making appearances on mainstream media houses like CNN, claimed China’s current surge in COVID-19 cases and casualties results from the freedom unvaccinated individuals enjoy.

He made this bogus claim via his personal Twitter account, claiming the increase in the number of cases is expected because a vast majority of the Chinese population is unvaccinated.

“China COVID deaths accelerate to 9,000 a day – What you get when you allow a lethal virus to rip through an unvaccinated population. When they try to ram ‘health freedom’ propaganda down our throats, remember that number.” Hotez tweeted what experts have perceived to be false.

“They don’t care about you. They don’t care about your family. It’s all about authoritarian control, no different from China’s Xi,” he added.

His claim is absurd for several reasons. Firstly, More than 5.51 billion people worldwide have received a dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, equal to about 71.8 percent of the world population. According to reports, 90% of China’s population has been vaccinated for COVID-19.

One reason why people are trooping into states like Florida is because of the relaxed laws on COVID-19. California was a perfect example of leaders enforcing lockdowns over COVID only to disregard their laws because they thought no one cared.

 

It’s been three years since mainland China opened sea and land crossings with Hong Kong as the requirement for incoming travelers to quarantine ended. The zero-COVID barrier has been repealed. The policy disconnected China from the rest of the world, with the country’s economy taking significant damage.
