Melania Trump Denounces Former Aide For ‘Malicious’ Leak Of Secret Recording

Although former first lady Melania Trump has a reputation for being relatively quiet and reserved, she has spoken out forcefully at times against what she perceives as unfair treatment by the media.

Most recently, she berated former aide Stephanie Wolkoff for providing secretly recorded private conversations to a reporter, claiming that the resulting media narrative was misleading and out of context.

Specifically, Trump took aim at a portion of the 2018 recording, which was released two years later and created the impression that she did not care about Christmas or the plight of undocumented children separated from their families.

In addition to penning a tell-all book about Trump, Wolkoff sat down for a CNN interview in 2020 that included a broadcast of the recording.

As Trump prepares to release a line of Christmas decorations and artwork, she revisited the controversy to provide her side of the story.

“I will personally set the record straight because the mainstream media has failed to provide context for these misleading exchanges,” she wrote.

Calling her “devotion” to Christmas “personal and profoundly serious,” Trump denied that her leaked remarks were intended to disparage the holiday. In the context of her conversation with her then-aide, she said that she was merely expressing her concern about migrant children.

“The fact that Wolkoff deleted this part of our conversation, where I expressed hope to reunite families split apart at the southern border, exposes her malicious intent,” she added.

As for Trump’s new line of ornaments and animated non-fungible tokens, she explained that a portion of the proceeds will benefit an initiative to provide scholarships to children in the foster care system.

“My creative inspiration for the upcoming holiday season is hope, and naturally, the star embodies this spirit,” Trump told Fox News. “My hope is for families across the world to use the Christmas Star ornament to inspire their loved ones with positive purpose, aspirations and values as we enter the new year.”
