KC Chiefs Owner Supports Harrison Butker’s PAC Promoting Traditional Values

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has launched a political action committee (PAC) to advocate for traditional conservative values, with the full backing of team owner Clark Hunt. Butker’s PAC, named UPRIGHT, aims to mobilize Christian voters to support policies and candidates that align with what the PAC describes as “traditional values.” Hunt, when asked about the PAC, expressed no concern, emphasizing that he encourages players to use their platforms to make a difference, regardless of their political views.

Butker, a three-time Super Bowl winner, announced the formation of UPRIGHT during the team’s bye week, garnering attention for his vocal endorsement of Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley in the upcoming election. The PAC’s mission, as stated on its website, is to combat the erosion of traditional values in schools, media, and government.

In a May commencement speech at Benedictine College, Butker faced backlash after urging female graduates to focus on roles as mothers and wives, rather than solely on their careers. He also condemned abortion and Pride Month, leading to a statement from the NFL distancing itself from his views, while reaffirming its commitment to inclusion.

Despite controversy, Butker remains outspoken, saying, “There’s things that I believe wholeheartedly that I think will make this world a better place.” His PAC has yet to report donations for the 2024 election cycle but is expected to play a role in mobilizing conservative Christian voters.

The Hunt family, known for its conservative views, has also supported efforts in Missouri to maintain a near-total ban on abortion. Although Butker has expressed criticism of some Republican figures, including former President Donald Trump, he has endorsed Trump as the “most pro-life president.”
