The campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris has avoided answering questions regarding her plan to offer amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. While Harris has repeatedly promised to create a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens, her team has refused to elaborate on whether she would use executive authority to enact such measures.
During the Democrat National Convention, Harris spoke of granting an “earned pathway to citizenship” for the millions of illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. Yet, when Axios sought clarification on how she would implement these changes, her campaign declined to provide specifics. Instead, her spokesperson pointed to Harris’ long-standing support for “Dreamers” and Biden’s past executive actions.
Back in 2019, Harris outlined a plan that included granting citizenship to millions of immigrants and protecting over 6 million from deportation. However, as illegal immigration reaches record levels, many voters are seeking answers on how these promises will be fulfilled.
Harris has been a key figure in handling the immigration crisis since President Joe Biden appointed her to address the situation at the southern border. A recent poll by The New York Times found that a majority of likely voters hold Harris accountable for the surge in illegal crossings.
Her evasiveness on the details of her amnesty plan is raising concerns about the potential impact on border security and American jobs.
