Joy Reid Claims Nobody Used The Word ‘Inflation’ Until Republicans Taught Them To

MSNBC anchor Joy Reid insulted the intelligence of average Americans live on air, claiming that they weren’t even aware of the word inflation until Republicans “taught it” to them.

While speaking on the far-left news network on Thursday evening, Reid claimed that “the only people you ever really hear use the word inflation are journalists and economists.”

“So that is not a part of the normal lexicon,” she continued.

“So it’s interesting that Republicans are doing something they don’t normally do, right, which is not use the common tongue, not use just common English, like do on their campaigns, like they do with crime,” Reid added.

The leftist news anchor went on to assert that average Americans “would have never used” the word inflation in their lives if Republicans hadn’t “taught” it to them.

“But what they’ve done is they’ve taught people the word inflation. Right? Most people who would have never used that word ever in their lives are using it now because they’ve been taught it. Including on TV, including in newspapers, they’ve been taught this word,” Reid claimed.

“And they sort of wrap this word around whatever it is that they really want to vote, you know, the reason they really want to vote,” she concluded.

A clip of Reid’s bizarre claims was shared on social media and quickly went viral, as many Twitter users refuted her claims and called her out for insulting voters.

“The grocery store taught me that word,” one Twitter user wrote, pointing to the effects that inflation has had on the prices of everyday goods.

“People are using the word because bread costs $6 and eggs cost $5,” another Twitter user noted.

“I can’t believe @JoyAnnReid came all the way down to Florida just to call voters stupid and gullible,” tweeted Florida state Rep. Alex Andrade (R).

“Joy Reid is admitting she didn’t know what inflation meant until this year,” said Jack Posobiec, senior editor at Human Events.

“Joy Reid thinks everyone was too dumb to know what inflation was until Republicans taught them the word. Even if that were true, wouldn’t it be a good thing that republicans are teaching people basic economics?” asked Austin Frisch.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) pointed out in a tweet that President Joe Biden should actually get the credit for teaching Americans the definition of the word inflation.

“Now, @JoyAnnReid is claiming Republicans taught Americans the word ‘inflation’ for the wrong reasons. Let’s give credit where it’s due. @JoeBiden taught Americans about inflation in all the wrong ways,” Blackburn wrote.

While Biden and his allies have tried to blame skyrocketing inflation on everything from the Russian invasion of Ukraine to COVID-19, polls have shown that a plurality of Americans blame the president’s spending policies.
