Sheriff Michael Chapman of Loudoun County, Virginia, issued a press statement detailing the Administration’s high-handedness, dishonesty, negligence, and irresponsibility in the resettlement of Afghan refugees. Officials were informed that 2,000 Afghan migrants would be coming in less than two weeks without any previous notice. Chapman discovered the Biden team to be dishonest, unhelpful, underprepared, and worse, which should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention over the past thirteen months.
On February 4, 2022, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received an unannounced visit from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service. DHS/FPS predicted that no more than 1000 refugees would be housed at the NCC at any given time until September 2022. The majority of the refugees would reach the United States through Qatar.
According to Rep. Darrell Issa, 12,000 Afghans who arrived at Camp As Sayliyah and later moved to the United States lacked identification. They didn’t bring anything. They have no Afghan identification, yet they are in the United States today based on what they say. Non-government groups will supply the refugees with cash and mobile phones, and they will be expected to remain on the NCC premises.
Moreover, he described the center as “unfenced” and near “a residential area and two public schools.” DHS authorities responded by telling him that the Federal Protective Service would deploy over 15 personnel to offer protection. In Virginia, the Sheriff’s Office inquired how refugees entering Loudoun County had benefited the US and posed no harm to the local population. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the DHS statement was as follows: “Refugees had been extensively screened, and several worked as interpreters.” When asked how many of the arriving refugees spoke English, DHS stated that many of them were family members of translators.
“Refugees had been thoroughly screened,” according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). According to a Senate Republican assessment, the screening and vetting process was a disaster. This procedure depended on databases on criminals and terrorists that were, at best, insufficient. It was much less beneficial amid the chaos of the failed departure from Afghanistan.
Therefore Biden officials took what these Afghan evacuees told them about themselves at its word, making no effort to verify whether or not their allegations were factual. As of February 15, DHS “said that no coordination had occurred and that no notifications had been issued to the neighborhood surrounding the NCC.”
