At Madison Square Garden in New York City, Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed a crowd at President Donald Trump’s rally, promising to eliminate wasteful spending in the federal budget. Musk, appearing alongside Trump on Sunday, estimated that he could cut $2 trillion from the budget if given the chance.
Musk’s comments follow Trump’s announcement that he plans to create a government efficiency commission led by Musk. “We are going to take a hard look at the $6.5 trillion Harris-Biden budget,” Musk said, suggesting that a significant portion of it is unnecessary.
Explaining his approach, Musk argued that all government expenditures amount to some form of taxation. “Your money is being wasted, whether through inflation or direct taxation,” he stated. He pledged that the Department of Government Efficiency, which he would lead, would address these issues.
Musk assured attendees that his reforms would bring relief to taxpayers. “We’re going to get the government off your back and out of your pocketbook,” he promised, vowing that his efforts would lead to a brighter, more prosperous America.
He also called on the crowd to take voting seriously, urging them to vote early and to bring others to the polls. “This election is a real battle,” Musk said, emphasizing the importance of participation.
Musk’s speech demonstrated his commitment to reducing government waste, positioning himself as a key player in Trump’s plan to reform federal spending.
