Grassroots Conservatives Demand Speaker Johnson Be Replaced

A poll conducted during AmericaFest, hosted by Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, shows grassroots Republicans are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with Speaker Mike Johnson’s leadership. Nearly 59% of respondents stated Johnson should not remain Speaker, while only 22% approved of his performance.

The dissatisfaction comes as conservatives rally behind President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda. The poll found that 63% of attendees believe securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants should be Trump’s top priority on day one, far surpassing other concerns such as pardoning Jan. 6 participants or reducing the national debt.

Trump’s Cabinet nominations were another highlight of the event, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. earning 35% support as the favorite for Health and Human Services Secretary. Kash Patel, nominated for FBI Director, followed closely with 31%.

Kirk posted the survey results on X, noting that 71% of attendees favor primary challenges for Republican lawmakers who vote against Trump’s Cabinet nominees. The sentiment aligns with the growing call for Johnson’s removal as Speaker, reflecting grassroots frustration with GOP leadership.

The poll also revealed strong opinions on holding political opponents accountable. Over 90% of respondents support indicting Anthony Fauci for his alleged role in funding Covid-19 research in China.

These findings underscore a shift within the Republican base, with conservatives demanding stronger alignment with Trump’s vision and a change in leadership at the top of the House.
