Grassley Condemns Wray’s Leadership, Calls For FBI Reform

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has issued a scathing critique of FBI Director Christopher Wray’s leadership, calling for him and Deputy Director Paul Abbate to resign. In an 11-page letter, Grassley accused the agency of failing to uphold justice and allowing political bias to erode public trust.

“For the good of the country, it’s time for you and your deputy to move on to the next chapter in your lives,” Grassley wrote, emphasizing the need for fresh leadership at the FBI.

Grassley criticized the FBI’s treatment of evidence related to Hunter Biden, accusing the bureau of suppressing information while aggressively investigating former President Donald Trump. He described the agency’s promotion of the Steele dossier as “some of the most egregious, Orwellian conduct” he has witnessed in his decades-long career.

The senator also pointed to whistleblower disclosures revealing that hundreds of FBI employees avoided accountability for misconduct by retiring or resigning. Additionally, Grassley condemned the bureau’s failure to properly vet Afghan refugees, leaving significant security risks unaddressed.

President-elect Donald Trump has announced plans to replace Wray with Kash Patel, a trusted ally. Trump has cited dissatisfaction with Wray’s handling of investigations, including the raid on Mar-a-Lago, as evidence of the need for change.

Grassley’s call for new leadership reflects growing discontent with the FBI’s direction under Wray. As the incoming administration takes office, the push for accountability and reform is expected to gain momentum.
