Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has come out of the woodwork
to put leftist Democrats on blast for their crime policies, leading some to predict that he is potentially planning a political comeback after his ousting from office over harassment allegations and controversial reactions to the Covid-19 viral outbreak, which brought fatal results.
Lately, Cuomo has been giving off the impression that he is trying to pitch himself as a moderate of sorts. As both AmericanWire and Fox News have observed, the former governor has been calling out actors on his own side of the aisle as of late, publicly airing his criticisms for leftists in numerous instances.
Pertinent examples include Cuomo’s characterization of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s probe into Trump’s alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels as a “cancer in our body politic” as well as his callouts on far-left progressives for their inability to stop violent crimes.

“Democrats, when you ignore crime, you hurt the people you represent,” Cuomo reportedly posted on Twitter.
Just last month, Cuomo posted a YouTube video on his “As a Matter of Fact… with Andrew Cuomo” podcast entitled, “Ignoring Crime: The opposite of progress,” in which he argued that Democrats don’t want to “talk about crime” and don’t want to “hear the word crime spoken.”
“There is no crime problem. It’s all Republican propaganda,” he sarcastically declares in the clip. He then states that “over 70% Black, brown and poor” individuals are the victims of crime and that they are “paying the price” for Democrats’ “far-left politics.”
Around the same time, Cuomo drafted an op-ed for the New York Daily News in which he reportedly wrote about why Americans are fleeing leftist states in favor of those that are more red. In the former New York governor’s eyes, the economy, climate, quality of public schools, affordable housing and public safety are all key factors.
He also suggested that the “defund the police” movement has harmed Democrats, and said that Democrat-run cities such as Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco all “experience a high rate of widely publicized violent crimes, and together with increased homelessness and general decay … appear ‘out of control.'”
As for why he may be doing this, some have speculated that Cuomo may be hoping to set himself up for a run at being the U.S. Senator from New York.
Time will tell.
