Congressman Discusses Democrats’ Hatred of ‘Diversity of Thought’

During an appearance on Newsmax’s “The Chris Salcedo Show” on Wednesday, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) discussed the left’s deepening hatred for “diversity of thought.”

Citing a recent New York Times article describing recently-elected Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) as “far-right” as proof of her claim, Cammack stated that the left does not care for “diversity of thought” and “just want to control” people.

“Speaking as a friend of Mayra and her family, I just have to say, she has her own opinions, she has what she knows to be true in her heart,” Cammack said. “And unfortunately for the New York Times, she just didn’t check all the right boxes for them. Because that’s what the left is all about, checking boxes right? But, when it comes to diversity, diversity of thought is not allowed, because that goes against the socialist-communist regime that they would love nothing more than to see take hold here in America.”

Cammack took issue with the Times article, which was entitled “The Rise of the Far-Right Latina,” and instead described her GOP colleague and her family as “wonderful American-loving patriots.”

“This is just a sign of what’s to come,” the Florida congresswoman said regarding Flores’ historic victory last month in Texas’ 34th Congressional District special election. “There are so many Latinos across the country who don’t get along with the [Democratic] program.”

“I think, collectively, people want to make the best decisions for themselves, their families, their businesses. And the Democrats just want to control and shove these radical ideologies down their throats,” Cammack added, noting that Republicans need to engage the Hispanic community better.

The Florida Republican went on to discuss the fact that the House Republican Conference is united around increasing security at the southern border, referring to it as the “number one issue right now” and an “invasion.”

“I’ve been calling this an invasion for the longest time,” Cammack said. “I’ve been to the border several times, [and] you can’t call it anything but that.”

The GOP congresswoman also detailed her concerns about Democrats not joining Republicans in trying to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, noting that border crossings have reached 8,000 per day and a recent Supreme Court ruling allowing the White House to end the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy definitely didn’t help.

“We know that the Biden administration is happily accepting people in this country. They’re completing the trafficking cycle for the cartels. So, this is long, long overdue,” Cammack declared. “I guarantee you when we take back the House, the first order of business come January is there is going to be a massive package to secure the borders and tighten up national security.”

Cammack is currently running for reelection in Florida’s 3rd Congressional District against Manuel Asensio and Justin Waters in the state’s August 23 GOP primary.
