For the entirety of Joe Biden’s career, he’s been an enemy of the Second Amendment. During Biden’s time as a senator, he pushed for bills that would crack down on gun manufacturers and gun rights in general.
During Biden’s time on the 2020 presidential campaign trail, he talked about “defeating” the National Rifle Association (NRA). Yet, ironically, since Biden’s been in the Oval Office, several states (with the backing of the NRA) have passed constitutional carry laws.
Earlier this month, the president moved to sabotage ghost guns, falsely linking these tools to crime. However, as Biden sets his sights on chipping away at the Second Amendment, this agenda is actually working against him, per The Federalist.
The Rise of American Gun Owners
There is a direct link between the rise of crime in the United States and the rise of new gun owners. Since 2019, there have been millions of Americans who’ve gone out and bought firearms.
Many of these gun owners are first-timers; also, a fair amount of Americans buying guns for the first time have been women and minorities.
Yet, none of this has stopped Biden from trying to nominate anti-gun government officials and otherwise targeting the Second Amendment.
What the president fails to see is the following: with all the crime happening in the United States, gun ownership is rising, support for anti-gun measures is falling, and frustration with lawlessness is skyrocketing.
In Biden’s foolishness, he keeps blindly trying to treat gun ownership and crime as synonymous entities when this couldn’t be less accurate. For one thing, data has shown that concealed carry permit holders are some of the most law-abiding people in the nation.
On top of this, the vast majority of criminals who use firearms to commit crimes do not legally own these weapons. This means that no amount of so-called gun control would have prevented the tragedies.
If the president was serious about ending crime, he’d be telling his party to stop lowering bail, opening up prisons, and treating offenders with kid gloves.
The Bottom Line
Democrats cannot have it both ways. They cannot defund the police, let criminals walk out of jail before serving their sentences, remove bail, and then say law-abiding Americans can’t defend themselves.
Ironically, for all of Democrats’ talk about the necessity of gun control, they’ve actually driven support for gun ownership. Their inability to appropriately deal with criminals is showing the entire nation why self-protection is more important than it’s ever been.
If Biden continues waging war on the Second Amendment, he’ll only be digging himself into a deeper hole.
