Biden Lies About Previously Visiting Southern Border

President Joe Biden has been caught in a lie once again, this time claiming that he had visited the southern border in the past, before his recent visit in El Paso, Texas.

Biden discussed his recent visit to the border during a gathering of mayors from across the country on Friday. The president spent a few hours in El Paso, making sure he was photographed near the border fence. Despite having canceled the construction of the fence immediately upon taking office, Biden apparently knew that the photo of him next to the fence was an important symbol of border security.

While speaking to the crowd on Friday, Biden blamed Republicans for the border crisis — claiming that the reason the crisis is occurring is that the GOP refused to pass his so-called “comprehensive” immigration reform, a bill that would have given amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Meanwhile, he has reversed many successful border policies implemented by former President Donald Trump and failed to enforce existing immigration laws.

Biden also claimed to have visited the southern border in the past, prior to taking office as president. This is a blatant lie, as evidence shows he has never been to the border.

“I visited the border earlier this month, the first time as President. I’ve been there before, but for the first time as President. And I’m taking action where I have the legal capacity to do so. I’ll continue to call on Congress to act to pass comprehensive immigration reform to fix the system,” the president said as the crowd applauded.

“The first bill I introduced was a comprehensive reform legislation on immigration,” he added. “But because of some in the Congress, they refused to consider it. They found it a better issue to campaign on than an issue to solve.”

“So, we have a choice: They can keep using immigration to try to score political points, or we can help solve the problem,” Biden continued. “Immigration reform used to be a bipartisan issue. And we can make it that again, in my view.”

Meanwhile, numerous reports have shown that Biden has never been to the southern border at any time during his nearly 50 years in elected office. The closest he has come to the U.S.-Mexico border is when he drove past it during a 2008 campaign trip.

The Washington Post reported: “Biden briefly drove past the border while on a campaign swing in 2008” in El Paso, Texas.

“On Oct. 17, he held a rally in Mesilla, N.M. The press officer on the trip, David E. Wade, told The Fact Checker that the plane landed at the El Paso airport and then the motorcade took the nearly one-hour drive to the suburb of Las Cruces. The drive took Biden along a route that for a few minutes hugs the border of the United States and Mexico,” the outlet added.
