Arrest Of Colombian Hitwoman ‘The Doll’ Shines Light On Gang Violence

A young Colombian woman known as “The Doll” has been arrested in connection with a series of gangland killings, including the murder of her ex-boyfriend. Police have identified 23-year-old Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez as a key figure in coordinating violent acts in Barrancabermeja.

Rodriguez, who goes by the alias “La Muneca,” was allegedly a leader within the Los de la M gang. Authorities say she orchestrated the July 23 murder of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus, by luring him to a meeting where he was ambushed and fatally shot by two motorcycle riders.

Two accomplices, Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, also known as “Gorda Sicaria,” and a man identified as “Leopoldo,” were arrested alongside Rodriguez. Police confiscated two firearms during the operation and are investigating their connection to other violent crimes in the area.

Lt. Col. Mauricio Herrara praised the arrests, saying they have brought a sense of calm to the region. “With the capture of alias La Muneca and alias Leopoldo, a period of calm has been created in the region. These arrests mark progress in the dismantling of criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides,” he said.

Rodriguez’s public profile has amplified interest in the case. Videos of her being escorted by police have spread widely, drawing attention to her role as a suspected gang leader.

While charges are still pending, authorities in Colombia remain focused on tackling organized crime. The arrests are a significant step in addressing violence in regions like Bucaramanga, where homicides are reported every three days.
